Another day on I-80/I-90, with not a whole lot to see except miles of flat terrain and thousands of tractor trailers.  The route took us through Elkhart, Indiana, home of the largest manufacturers of motor homes and RV's.....and, as to be expected, the home of the MH and RV Hall of Fame, which proved a perfect spot to take a break, grab a snack, and walk around the museum.

The museum has a large collection of trailers and motor homes going way back to 1913, and even includes Mae West's "House Car", the chauffer-driven van that allowed her to relax on the road.

Another bonus: the museum allows dogs, so Zoey got to pose in a vintage 1960's RV:


Reality hit us as we crossed the line into Illinois and saw the price of regular gas up over $5.00!

  Lincoln Presidential Museum: Today took us into Springfield, Illinois, Abraham Lincoln’s home prior to his presidency, as well as his burial site at Oak Ridge Cemetery.  We toured the Lincoln Museum , adjacent to the Lincoln Presidential Library.  Using dioramas and multi-media displays, the museum impressively provides a journey through President Lincoln's life from his early years through his death.
